All Good Things...

This is the newsletter I sent out yesterday...

This is the hardest news I have had to announce in the last 5 years of The Scrapbox. But here goes...

Effective Wed Dec 5th, at 12pm noon, The Scrapbox will be holding a "Going Out Of Business" Sale of all in-stock products at a discounted rate of 40% off regular price items until Sat Dec 8th at 6pm.

Next week the discount increases to 50%.

The week after that, everything will be 60% off and then the final week of December, everything will be 70% off the regular price.

Fixtures and select studio equipment/tools etc will also be for sale. If you are interested in anything from this category, please come to the studio to view and purchase these items- Cash only.

Unless however someone or someones wants to purchase The Scrapbox from me, lock, stock and buttons. That is also an option that I am willing to explore. Please forward this on to any interested persons you know.

I will state for the record the following; I am not dying, nor am I pregnant. I am not getting a divorce nor am I experiencing any familial calamities. I am choosing this to happen at this time, because it is time.

I have other reasons, more personal, for closing the store but please don't ask me what they are. I'm fairly certain I am going to be very emotional during this last chapter of my LSS Owner career, so let's please try to enjoy as much as we can, the time the store has left open before I hand back my keys.

Anyways - I know I have a lot more explaining to do, so that is what the rest of this newsletter is about. Please read it carefully, and then read it again. If you still have questions, please reply to this email and I will do my best to clarify how we are going to handle things.

I will likely have more newsletters to follow with updates. As I think of things that need to be passed along, I will send one out.

Thank you for 5 years of patronage, your company, creativity and unforgettable memories. It has been a life enriching and interesting journey.

...and thank you for Coming to Play.

Jenn

The Scrapbox Studio Membership - I just renewed it!!!

I know - sucks right? I get it - in fact it was the first issue I had to address in my head or I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. You are my faithful Studio Members, returning year after year to support the store, so I want to do right by you.

Therefore every month beyond December 2012 that you would have been missing out on your membership will turn into a onetime credit on a purchase at the store. I will pro-rate by the number of months that did not get enjoyed and apply it at the time of purchase in December - yes even against sale merchandise.

You will need to present your current membership card, which will be punched one last time with a very special punch and the credit will be applied at that time. You will be able to come and use the studio in its entirety until December 20th when all studio items that are being purchased will then need to be picked up by their new owners.

I will not be able to refund you your membership outright, nor will I send cheques in the mail. I will only be able to refund as a credit against purchases of new product during the month of December. If you want to figure out what credit you would be entitled to, please click on the link at the side of the newsletter with the PDF chart and see for yourself.

If you are still unhappy about this policy, I apologize. Asking for your money back in person will not change anything unfortunately. If you are truly upset, please don't take this out on my staff, who are doing everything they possibly can to help me through this transition.

Thank you.

About Buying New Product from The Store...

The sales and discounts will occur as stated above. Please note the following:

1. I will not hold anything in the store for anyone at "Clear out Prices". I will not be taking orders by phone, so please don't ask. If you can't make it in, have a friend come in and have them equipped with a cell phone.

2. For obvious reasons, all sales are final, no matter what it is, and what price you paid for it. HST needs to be charged on all new goods sold, regardless of the price it is sold at. I will still take all the previous forms of payment for new goods (cash, visa, mastercard, amex and debit).

3. I will be open during normal business hours, and will be until the end of the year (or I run out of things to sell). If you need to be reminded what normal business hours are - look down at the bottom of this newsletter.

This Wed will be Stephanie's last 2 Page Layout Class - the Christmas All About Me at 6pm. We still have room if you are interested. It will be the last class we have at The Scrapbox.
**************************************
What about My Birthday Discount!?! !

...but I wanted to buy a Cameo! (or a Vagabond, or another big ticket item...)
If you were waiting for your birthday to come so you could order a big ticket item (like a Cameo) that I do not normally carry in stock, then I will honour the Birthday Discount for these items until Dec 31st 2012.

If you wish to do this, I will place a one
-time order on your behalf and bring it in at 25% off the regular price.

I will NOT order in something specifically for someone and immediately discount it to 40% off or more. Therefore, I will need to have all of these special items paid for in advance. Please inquire further for details and pricing on big ticket items.

********************************************************
And yet more things to know...

Credits from previous events

If you have a credit on your account, it must be used up by the end of the month. I am not in a position to refund any credit at this time. This was the agreement in which I accepted the funds in the first place to be placed on your account.
Please reply to this email with any questions.
************************************************
Personal Information

The information I have received over the years - names, addresses, phone #'s etc, will not be traded or sold unless in the fortunate event that a person or persons purchases The Scrapbox as a business in its entirety from me.

Once all business is completed and my taxes filed, I will then destroy all personal information files - likely with a baseball bat out in the soccer field.

Special Orders

I have held on to items for people in good faith. If you no longer want these items, please let me know via email or by phone and I will put them on the shelf to sell to the next interested party. I will not hold them longer than December 8th.

If you decide you still want to purchase these items, please understand that they will only have the 15% discount on them, as this was the understanding when you asked me to hold them for you.

***************************************************************
 .

I will be receiving in the Free Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine this week - available first come first served. I will also be getting in the 2013 SCT Sketch Calendar. If you want one of these calendars, please let me know. I will be offering them at 25% off, fresh out of the box.

CHA Post #3

My plan to send back most of my catalogs and samples (such as they were) via UPS was a good one, although hardly original  (they had a mini business depot set up in the convention centre outfitted for just such service) so I expect that it will arrive by Monday or Tuesday in time for my "CHA Q & A" next Tuesday night at The Scrapbox. The ordering of product continues and is a time consuming process so I hope to have updates on that as well for Tuesday. There was so many booths to see that often times I was simply stopping in, getting the catalog, snapping the pics of the product I want on my phone and moving on to the next one.

I plan on doing a Spellbinders Pre-order so keep an eye out for it, after I send out the weekly newsletter (late this week for obvious reasons - my apologies!).

Yesterday ranged all over 2 halls (B & C) which was a lot to cover. A few things that jump out in my memory quickly before I have to dash to my shuttle to the airport.

- Queen & Co's line of Patterned tape and Twine is just as lovely as shown online.

-Pink Paislee and Christy Thomlinson is a match made in heaven, and the other Pink lines are beautiful as well.

-Spellbinders has a new line of dies that allow you to cut and flip parts of the die cut into beautiful patterns - the name of the type of die escapes me (lack of sleep) but it will be HUGE hit with my cardmakers for sure!

- DIY Thickers - I saw these on day one but didn't mention them in my other post - double sided adhesive on plain white thickers of  all your favourite fonts - peel and stick then peel the top to add any kind of glitter, flocking or microbeads and they stick beautifully!!! These will be a big hit for sure!

I see I need to get to the shuttle so will try to post more later. It's been an overwhelming experience so will have to go through my pics to help get my thoughts organized. Thanks for following me along on my adventures and I hope you are looking forward to the nex product as much as I am.

Cheers and pray for clear skies!

Day 2...

Greetings from Anaheim Morning #2!!!!

I had full and sincere intentions of sitting down at the end of my first day here at CHA to summarize my findings, go through order forms, plan a blog post and upload a tone of pics to FB and Blogger (I took 170 pics…not bad). Then I got an invite to have dinner with a peer and it turned out to be a wine and cheese party that eventually ended up at restaurant and by the time I got back to the hotel room it was 1:17am EST precisely and I was cut off from the hotel lobby where the free internet was.

They say the road to hell was paved with good intentions too…anyways. I did manage to sit down and do write this blog post which I intend to post as soon as I am ambulatory in the morning.

Let me see what I can remember at this point…

Vintaj – LOVE it! Maybe its my heritage or just being part raven but I love metal and being able to play with it. I took a blank metal shape (this time a butterfly) and turned it into a beautiful charm that was so easy and fun I wanted to make a whole flock of them. Vintaj has dies that can emboss and etch thin metal charms and pieces!!! They also have “Patinas” to colour and enhance the metal! Then you can put Glossy Accents on top or dip into a melting pot to give it an enamel look – I tell you the list just goes on and on with what you can do with these. LOVE LOVE LOVE! Got the 3 “LOVE” rating with this make & take.

Ranger – Didn’t get a chance to play with the Distress Markers but I saw them – and anyone who did use them just loved them too. I have put in an order already for the Distress Markers, new Ice Stickles colours (which are bold and beautiful instead of being washed out) and Dylan’s new Dylusional Sprays which are bright colour sprays that are rich and perfect for wanting to add just colour to a project without any sparkle. They are water reactive and so fun to play with.

As a side note, I want one of those cash receipt journals but Dyan was very circumspect with her source of such journals. Me LIKEY!!!!

As I was passing through the Ranger booth I saw that Debbie was doing a Demo with the new Tire Treads. Since this was a request from a dear friend Monica to check this out, I happily obliged. Besides, there was a melting pot involved, so I stepped up to the counter to check it out. SUCH FUN!!!!!

As you can see I made a lovely heart shaped pendant from UTee, poured into a mold made from 'Mold&pour' that was sitting on softly flexable Texture Treads that are beautiful and easy to use. I see this happening in your class Monica! I couldn't help but put my sweet little Vintaj Charm on there too! Happy!

And Tim was Tim – busy, doing demos and impossible to reach on a personal level. Or should I say when I saw him relaxing at the Ranger Booth at the end of the day with Mario I didn’t have it in me to go up and bother them with small talk. They really bust their butts to put together a great show and it just didn’t seem to be the time. On a funny note though – did anyone see me in one of Mario’s first BTW on Facebook or Twitter? While he took a picture of us, I took a picture of him. He ended up using a different pic but I thought it was ironic.

I also spent a goodly amount of time at the Faber Castell Booth and received some instruction on their gelatos, pitt pens and different pencil crayons and was able to play in an art journal with how they react with water and blend so beautifully. I will be placing an order of these beautiful mediums so watch for them to be in store soon! Here is the sweet little M&T I did with them too! Awesome girls there...very helpful too.

Oh and then there was Prima. I must have taken more pictures at their booth than any other. I have an album started over at FB to put all of the pics I took (its taking a long time to update though) and I couldn't stop taking pictures of their beauitful demos and products. WOW!!! Anyways - here is the last M&T I did of the day at Prima. There wasn't a real demo to work from, the lovely designer just said my old line of "Here is the product, here are the tools, here is what we did - you do your own thing!!!" And this is what I did...quite lovely I thought.

So I hope your appetite has been 'whetted' for more. I seemed to be able to get my phone hooked into the free internet at the convention centre about half way through the day so was able to get a few fun shots up there. I will do more posting as time and internet connection permits!
I also bumped into some chums from Ranger U in line for a book signing with Wendy Vicci (which I also got - very cool!) and will be having lunch and dinner with them too. Anyways...time for breakfast and then heading over to the convention centre. If I have more time I will try to upload more pics to my FB album.

Later!

CHA Day 1 - before the show...

Greetings!

I have been a sheepish blogger (which is to say a baaaaaaa-d one) but it has been noted that my blogging is in inverse proportion to my general state of busy-ness. I apologize that it has been so long but I have embarked upon an overhaul of both part of my store and my personal life (steps towards a healthier Jenn) so blogging time is rare. But here I am in Anaheim CA waiting for CHA to start in a few short hours so I thought I would take the time to give a brief update!

The flight went well, which is to say I had a lot of room to myself on the plane (always nice) and that we arrived early at our destination with little turbulence. The show starts runs from 10am to 6pm PST so keep in mind that there is a 3 hour difference. I could be posting little FB updates as late as 8-9pm EST. I am told that there is free WIFI at the LA Convention Centre so I will do doing a lot of picture taking and uploading from the floor to FB. I should look into whether or not blogspot has a similar app but will do that later.

I hope to be visiting the following booths today.

Vintag

Ranger

Advantus

Queen & Co

Sizzix

ClearSnap

Hero Arts

Cheery Lynn Designs

Tonic Studios

Art Gone Wild/Stampers Anonymous

American Crafts

Studio Calico

Crate Paper

Helmar

Prima Marketing

Faber Castell

BoBunny

Websters Pages

October Afternoon

I am not sure when lunch is going to figure in there, let alone breaks to the loo but I have 8 hours and I intend to make the most of them.

I have no plans for tonite other than to sum up my thoughts on what I have seen today and make another blog post and write my newsletter so hang in there, check into FB and I hope you enjoy my updates!
