Customer Appreciation Day Today! At The Scrapbox!

I hope that you will join us today for a little social time on the last day of the year! Starting at 12pm and going until 5pm, I will be hosting a social drop in for anyone who would like to have some sweets, free tea and coffee and take part in a very fun and informative FREE Make & Take Featuring the new Tim Holtz Vagabond now in our Scrapbox Studio, and his Bigz Dies – want to learn how to make stamps out of BIGZ Sizzix Dies? Let me show you and you get to keep the stamp! Yay!

Want a preview? Check it out HERE on this step by step instructions from his 12 Tags of Christmas 2010. Did you want to win free Tim Holtz Products? You have until Friday, Dec 31st to complete your tags, inspired by his 12 tags from 2010 and you will be entered into a draw for $40 worth of Tim Holtz Products! (Why $40? Cause it’s the 4rth year of him doing it!)

So come on down for Customer Appreciation Day on Friday, Dec 31st starting at 12pm and going until 5pm. The Make & Take will happen when *you* arrive!

If you aren't able to make it, I hope you have a safe and enjoyable New Years and we'll see you soon! (Maybe even on Tuesday when I open at 12noon for the first time!)

Card #5 for the December Stamp of the Month!

I wanted to combine a number of different elements: gate fold card, a rather large butterfly stamp, clear embossing and a thank you theme. Hmmmmmm.....right. So I played around with the Butterfly stamp - one of my favorites from Tim, and this is what came out of it...

The out side is held closed by a thin white ribbon going through two eyelets - eyelets that are keeping the butterfly fixed to the card as well - so if you wanted to have the butterfly wings curl out a bit you can.

This is the inside of the card - as you can see, the butterfly wings come around inside as well, which make a nice bracket for the simple 'Thank you' sentiment.

I really like simple, classic colour combinations and using 2-3 colours maximum gives merit to the 'less is more' theory. There are a few techniques with the butterfly I will be sharing with my classes, not the least of which is playing with Mica Flakes!

If you are interested, please check out the Calendar on The Scrapbox Website at www.thescrapbox.ca/classes for the dates and times for this, and other awesome classes being held this month at The Scrapbox. Take time for YOU this month!

I would also like to put a footnote here about my next creative project that is the 12 Tags of Christmas currently being hosted over at Tim Holtz's website. You can click on the blog link on the right side of this blog to join in the fun. You can win prizes if you comment on his blog, and I am doing a giveaway too at the end of the month for anyone who does 12 tags inspired by Tim's, and has them completed by the end of December. I am giving away a $40 retail value prize of Tim products!

If you need anything to help with this or any other holiday project, I will do my best to get it to you in a timely fashion. Please contact us at the store, at 613-745-2215.

New December Stamp of the Month Card #4

I am on a roll it seems, so here is, without further ado, Card #4 in the December Stamp of the Month Card Class!

I am using a Masking technique here as well as the brand new Reindeer Die Cut from Tim Holtz - what? Never used one before? Let me show you how in this very informative stamping and card making class.

Class dates available for these cards are as follows

Thurs Dec 2 at 6pm - 9pm (NEW DATE!)
Wed Dec 8th at 6pm - 9pm
Wed Dec 15th at 1pm - 4pm
Wed Dec 15th at 6pm - 9pm

Cost is : $28/$25 (no free stamp offered this month only)

Call now to sign up for any of the above classes at 613-745-2215! Thank you! At least one more coming tomorrow!

Jenn

PS The message starts on the outside of the card 'You can run...' and then on the inside of the card it says..."...but you can't hide from your birthday". I thought it would be appropriate for any male type person in your life requiring a birthday card. Hope you agree and that I see you real soon!

New December "Stamp of the Month" Cards

I am substituting my own card desgins for the December Stamp of the Month (if you ask why, please check out your weekly Member's Newsletter. Don't get a newsletter cause you aren't a member? Sign up for a membership next time you are at the store to get the inside scoop!)

So here are the first 3 cards of a potential 6 card class (could only be 5 cards depending on level of complexity)

As you can see, I have selected the "Midnight Frost" paper line from Bo Bunny for this class and I so love the colours. There isn't a 'theme' to this collection, but instead is a well rouned collection of greeting cards. I hope to have a few more done by the end of today.

Class dates available for these cards are as follows

Thurs Dec 2 at 6pm - 9pm (NEW DATE!)
Wed Dec 8th at 6pm - 9pm
Wed Dec 15th at 1pm - 4pm
Wed Dec 15th at 6pm - 9pm

Cost is : $28/$25 (no free stamp offered this month only)

I am breaking even more tradition with this class as I am using my favorite stamps from any company. I am really enjoying making this class and there are some techniques involved that haven't been seen in any previous Stamp of the Month.

Call the store to sign up! 613-745-2215 and leave a message if not during normal business hours! We will get back to you!

Come Play!

This is a layout I did about a month ago that I was hoping to have posted pre-Disney trip but just didn't have the time. It features the latest product from My Minds Eye "Lost & Found" collection plus a few bits from my own collection.

This grouping of product includes new flowers and bling from Prima, a glimmer glass butterfly from Tattered Angels Nature Collection (which you can alter the shape by warming up slightly with a heat gun), Lost & Found embellishments and I think there is a Jenni Bowlin button hidden in there too. I used the Tim Holtz Flourishes Stamps to add to the background, but to also help transition the two pages.

I am also somewhat proud of this area of the LO because I took an element of one of the MME papers that had the bracket shape, used it as a template to cut out the scallop shape you see with the faint image of the bird - but it is also still attached the the banner that is above Emma's picture. I like the idea of creating one of a kind embellishmemnts from paper.

Also a bit of luck with the placement of the paper behind the photo - one of the brown glitter swirls that sits right above Emma's head reminded me of a crown so I put a little bling there to crown my little princess. Other embellishments here came from a Lost & Found dimensional sticker package but the bird image on the dictionary page is from a 3 year old MME pack of rubs. Fascinating how they keep using the same colour pallette eh?

I made the kraft pocket from a paper bag that was left in the studio by some unknown donor - distressed it up with Vintage Photo Ink (one of my favorites from Tim's line of Distress Inks) as I did with almost every other elbellishment and paper in this LO - I found the creme colour just a bit bright. But I digress...

The pink 'shape' is a Bird sticker from Heidi's old days with Advantus. I bought a roll of these pink birds for my store opening and they are still haunting my discount bin. However since pink and birds were a recurring theme someone challenged me to include it somehow. So I inked it up with Vintage photo, stamped on it with the flourish stamp but also added a little message to my daughter as she starts down her own scholastic career.

Well - that was quite the ramble on! If you made it down to the very end without needing a bathroom break and a drink of water congrats! I hope it was somewhat amusing or helpful!

Have a great day!

Playing with the Blog...

Well after spending a few minutes I was able to get the blog's features back, such as the blog list of brands sold at The Scrapbox, other blogs I follow (And now I can again!) and I found a very basic background that barely suits my needs for the moment...but serve it will because it seems that time is very hard to come by in my life these days. I mean...I have as much as anyone else is given so I shouldn't complain!

I will need to learn more on how to pretty up the background while at the same time properly represent what the Scrapbox Image(tm) is. Don't you ever wish you could take a snapshot of what is inside your head and say "HERE! This is what I want! I don't want to have to explain it!" Oh well - until such groovy tech is invented I will have to do it the other way.

I have been using Facebook more for quick updates on what is coming in to the store or what has arrived. These last two weeks have seen a great influx of product to the store and we are bursting at the seams. If you haven't been in awhile, you may want to come down and check us out! The Scrapbox also has a Facebook Group dedicated to the store so just do a search for the Scrapbox and join up. It won't hurt a bit I promise!

Ok - going to work on more promotion for my upcoming event with Melissa Frances! I plan on having that up on the blog in the next 12 hours. That is my goal!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and got to nap lots after a big meal! =)

New Blog Look....?

One of the items on my seeminly inexhaustable 'To Do' list for The Scrapbox, is to update my Blog 'Look'. I will be playing around with different templates and fonts and such (as time allows) and certainly I want to post MORE than once a month. So hang in their followers, I do have plans for this blog and hopefully it will be worth your while to visit!

Thanks again!

Basic Grey CHA Summer...

Ok this is one of the first booths I visited - and placed an order at. I love LOVE the Curio line (shipping in October!) and the Jovial Christmas line is - in Stephanie's opinion - better than last year! And for fall we are very interested in the Pyrus line as well. Here are a few pics of their booth - would love to hear from you as to what you like best!

I hope that you are enjoying my CHA Recaps...more over the weekend!

Back home safely from CHA! Review Part One...

Ok - home safe and sound! Flights were uneventful although there was an hour delay coming home. Wish I knew so I could have spent another hour on the floor! Oh well...

I wanted to do a post while things are really fresh in my mind, but most importantly I want to report that I have confirmed Melissa Frances is coming Oct 1 & 2, 2010 and was able to get a good long look at the projects that she wants to bring up to us!

I will be releasing more in a newsletter! Book the dates though now - Friday Oct 1 and Sat Oct 2, 2010 has Melissa Frances coming to The Scrapbox!

I also took this opportunity to speak to other 'celebs' designers and have received very positive feedback - I have signed up someone for March and another potentially for June. I will be at The Scrapbox Studio tomorrow night to give more details on that so why not come by for the free Make & Take and get the news first hand? I will let you down gently now, and tell you that Tim isn't one of them. However I did have a very good conversation with Mario who reassured me that time and patience will be our best options - and Tim shows no sign of slowing down, let alone retiring...

On to more pictures!

I would steal this guy in a minute - but I couldn't afford him and Tim needs him to much I think =)

A few sneak peaks of product that impressed me...

This is where I leave you wanting more folks - if you are curious I will have some samples tomorrow at The Scrapbox - come keep my company as I work my first shift at the store in nearly a week!

And on that note I would like to take a moment to thank my awesome Scrapbox Angels and Divas who have given me peace of mind so that I could attend my first CHA. Jacquie, Tammy & Stephanie - you ladies are awesome and I am very grateful. Thank you!

Hope to see you all soon, and stay tuned for more pics and peeks!
