Another short, but hopefully sweet, post...

I would like to think that this 99.9% done but will likely go back and add more bits and bling and of course, journalling.

This layout was inspired by the last big snowfall that happened in March 09 when I was visiting my mother with my DD and we were able to make the last and only snowman together of the season. I loved how Emma's snowsuit was picked up by the bright purples of the Fancy Pants 'Arctic Chill' paper line and the 'Plum' glimmer mist was perfect on my Grungeboard letters (Thanks Rachel!).

I also used pearl "Smooch!" glimmer paint on the grungeboard to make it look like they were snow-caoted. If you haven't gotten a chance to play with these beautiful new paints, I highly recomend you make yourself available on Saturday May 2, NSD, at The Scrapbox as I will be doing a Make & Take with them from 9am to 12pm! Oh did I mention it was free?!? Sheeyah!

I guess this was a decent sized post after all. Will be bringing in my album into the studio tomorrow as I don't really have decent lighting at home.

Have a good night all!

Back Safe and Sound!

I'm home and am very proud of the (almost) completed 9 LO's that I did over the weekend at Nav Can - but have hit the ground running tying to get everything ready for this weekend's NSD Fun on Sat May 2 so will be posting more pics (and better ones) of the LO's I did while away.

Sorry it's so short but want to keep up my bloggin grove!

Peace!

Nav Can Creative Chaos!

(This is my creative mess =) and loving it!)

Well I made it here safely yesterday morning and time is absolutly flying by! I had to stop and take a few pictures during a quiet time while folks were at lunch and post them here...

The above was my 'warm up' LO that was a kit of a Stephanie Class from Feb 09 that I took some photos of Emma when she was only 9mos old. Took me most of the day but I knew that it would take me awhile to settle down and get in my groove.

7

This is the second 2 page LO that I was able to complete last night before turning in. Emma (Of Auntie Em's) and Laura came to visit us and totally had us rolling off our seats laughing so was a bit dsitracting but otherwise I am very pleased with how my day went.

And here is a sneak peak of what I am currently working on...

That's it for now - have to get back at it! Enjoy the day!

Well - I think that just about does it...

...I am PACKED for Nav Can! Woot!

Well - I still have to pack clothes and bathroom sundries but that doesn't count - the scrapbook stuff is packed and I'm positive that I'll forget something - I am not used to creating outside the studio but hey - I'm sure that I'll be just fine.

Have a fab weekend! I will be thinking of ya'll!

Oh - and Tim Holtz Stamps have finally arrived at the Scrapbox!!!! Yes! Finally they are here but who knows for how long? Come on down to see all that I brought in - and let me tell you that this shipment is the single largest stamp order I have EVER made! And they are awesome!!!!

I'll try to blog from NavCan with pics or something...

Just a wee update...

Things to do this week...

1. Finish up my newsletter (almost done)

2. Pack for Nav Can (eeee!)

3. Prep for SOTM class for this weekend so Tammy doesn't have to...

4. Spend time with my DD and DH (Hubby is definatly getting the short end of the stick on this one...)

5. Make sure I post every other day at least! (Whew...got that done in the knick of time!)

Well it turns out that we didn't get picked for the Early Bird line from Cosmo Cricket but that's ok - I may have to do my own giveaways soon - so stay tuned!

Also - just added the Fancy Pants blog to my slowly growing list on the left side of this blog. Hope you check them out as I just got in the "Krafty Kuts" line in store! Yay!

Have a great scrappin week!

The 'After Birthday' let down...

I just wanted to eek in a post just so that I don't break my rhythm on my blog here!

Today was my DD 'Kiddie' birthday party and ohmyg ever fun! Would like to put a big thank you out to Ariel (and to Princess Parties) for adding such a magical element that made my little girl's eyes wide with awe!

Of course some pics would be forthcoming soonish but I am pretty pooped so will be hitting the hay so I can get up early to spend some quality time with my moms who drove all the way up here to be with us for these special few days.

My week's plans include a very intense planning and packing for a Nav Can weekend as well as the usual round of Scrapbox Duties!

This would be your last chance to speak up for The Scrapbox on the Cosmo Cricket Blog as they 'randomly' pull a name from their comments. If you are not sure of what I speak, check out the previous post!

gnight all!

If you like the Scrapbox - Tell Cosmo Cricket!

I don't normally toot my own horn...well not too terribly much but I thought this was a really neat way of supporting LSS's. This is from the Cosmo Cricket's Blog...

"Do you love your local scrapbook store? Well, if you do tell us about it. We want to know the name of your favorite LSS, where it's located and why you love it so much. If there isn't a store in your area, let us know your favorite independent online retailer and why they are so great!

Not only is this a great chance to give your store some free publicity, but we will pick one random commenter to win an Early Bird Paper Crafting Kit and their LSS will win the entire Early Bird Collection! Let all your friends and neighbors know to support your favorite store by commenting as it will increase the odds of your store winning..... and, we will be shipping our winner first..... so everyone in your area wins too, really!

We will announce the lucky commentor and their LSS Monday (April 20) in the morning!"

I'll make the pot even sweeter - IF we win the jackpot and The Scrapbox receives the entire line of "Early Bird Collection" then I will split the product line between ALL the members who posted and boasted for The Scrapbox on the Cosmo Cricket Blog. That's right - I won't sell it, I'll give it away to my awesome Scrapbox Members and Customers (You don't even have to be a Member to get a piece of some possible free CC product!)

So go HERE to tell them who your favorite LSS is and why!

And a HUGE thank you to scrappinbarb who posted about The Scrapbox without my asking and letting me know what was going on! She's awesome! Thank you!

hugs!

oOPPS I did it again...

Honestly I need an editor...

So - Stephanie's 'All About Me' Class in May is on Friday the 8th not the 18th (which doesn't exist =). Check out the description of this very fun class (the first of a series) HERE!

In other exciting Stephanie classes, tomorrow night at the Scrapbox is her '3 LO's in 3 Hours' class! So Thursday April 16th at 6pm is this class...

I would like to encourage all of my members who ever said the following about their scrapbooking...

1. "I like to keep things simple!"
2. "It's about the photos, not the paper and embellishments..."
3. "I am so new at this, I wish I could learn all the basics in one class!"

If any of this is starting to sound familiar, check out this class at The Scrapbox on:

Thursday April 16 at 6pm to 9pm.
Cost : $26/$23

This class is for all those who are new to the craft or want to learn how to make the most out of their tools and scrapbooking supplies! Still a few spots left, so call me at 613-745-2215 or email me at jenn@thescrapbox.ca !

Before I get poked or worse...=)

...my post for the day!

Spellbinders are IN store - sort of.

I got a bunch in yesterday and they just flew - like - flew! out the door. I have some left and am ordering a bunch more that should be in store today or tomorrow. So if there was a specific one you wanted, you may want to call and let me know!

The following seem to be the most popular so far...

The Peony Nestabilities

The Dahlia Nestabilities

The Blossom Nestabilities

Flower Miniabilities

Now these are just *some* of what they released in Jan CHA 09 and I hope to have most of them in store over the next few weeks. If you want to see all of them, check out the Spellbinders Website HERE. As usual I would be happy to order in any for a special order for you!

Have a great day and if you have an open scehdule tomorrow - I have a FREE (yes that's right - FREE) crop going on from 12 to 9pm at the Scrapbox Studio tomorrow, Friday April 10. Call to reserve your spot! 613-745-2215!

Ciao!

A New Week begins...

It's odd - the middle of the 'week' is the start of mine...

This week we have lots of lovely classes being held including the first round of Stamp of the Month Card Classes in April - this in particular, I think, is my favorite of the six cards we are making...

Also - We are OPEN! on Friday April 10th (Good Friday) due to an exception I found in the Retail Holiday Act (read it if you want to - terribly dry stuff) so will be having a Free Crop for Members all day! Give me a call to reserve your seat!

Tammy will be giving her Next Scor Pal Class and the last class for her Cuttlebuggin 3 class - these series of classes have been very popular - if you are interested in further discovering what these tools can do for you - come check out our very informative classes!

That's it for now - have to go finish up the weekly Member Newsletter which will hopefully be sent out tomorrow morning with all the news that hot off the 'box!

Hope you have a great week!

It's a long way to the top...

...if you wanna rock and roll...

AC/DC sometime in the 1980's...

I love music. Not many people know that I went to university to persue Music and performed regularily in an orchestra and sometimes in a jazz band. My main instrument was percussion but due to carpal tunnel and a few other issues (scholar burnout being one of them) it never went beyond University level. But I enjoyed it, and every once in a while I'll snap out the question 'Who sings this?' when a particularly good rock and roll song comes on over the XM Sattelite radio in the studio. I'm sure my Divas would love it if I gave up this little game but it was one my brother and I played often during long car trips.

While ACDC never musically developed much passed the time they were 17 years of age (and that was pretty much a quote from one of them in the band) they understood that in order to be the best or top in your field it can be a long road and sometimes sacrifices have to be made. Every time I pull a long day or week I start hearing a little whiney snively voice at the back of my mind, feeling very sorry for itself. Then I think about this very simple truth and ask myself if I want to be the best Scrapbooking Store and Studio there is in the whole of the Canotek Industrial Park. The snively voice usually retorts that I am the only LSS in the C.I.P.!

"That's no reason not to do my best, every moment and every day, because maybe one day there WILL be another LSS. Ever think about that?"

Well you get the picture. =) I'm not going crazy (You know I will be when I open a second location =) and I'm not going anywhere because I have fabulous staff and even better customers! Not sure where this post came from, other than perhaps when I was trying to put together a playlist for this blog I came accross some old ACDC and it got me thinking...now I have to figure out how to embed it into the bottom of the blog like Steph has hers. I'll have to ask her the next time we have a spare minute or two...

Thanks for visiting! If you found this post a bit on the surreal side you could always click on one of the great blogs on the left side of this blog to catapult you back into the scrapbooking world. Check out the store this week for some more very cool stuff coming in like maybe Spellbinders? Stay tuned!

hugs!

Thanks so much!

Whoa - 17 comments are a record for me! Yay! Thanks everyone!

Members can still post a comment to April 1st blog post with the 'secret words' to qualify for the prize specified in the newsletter =)

Feeling a bit beat right now. Realizing that this will likely be the last nice weather day until next week - bleh. I really wish the weather didn't affect me as much as it does but when it rains my brains turn to mush...I mean...more than usual.

Does this qualify as a blog post? It was funny - last night I was all rarin to post some fun stuff but realized that I already HAD posted already that day so had to wait until today and then when I got to the point where I could post soemthing...nothing. Zip. Zero.

Phooey.

Lets see - still receiving new product in the store - which is nice becuase the store is starting to look full again! Yay! All sorts of new papers from Sassafrass Lass, Bo Bunny and 7 Gyspsies are in and up for your viewing pleasure! The new April Artboard is up and is looking sooooo pretty - the photos on the internet just don't do it's glittery goodness justice. (Whew way that 5 times fast). Still have some space in the first class next week Wed April 8 at 6pm. Call the store 613-745-2215 to book your seat now!

Anyways - off home now. Tomorrow is another long day so best get some rest.

hugs!
